Sundance Film Festival Award-winning Film 'The Birth Of A Nation' Releases Its First Trailer

Nate Paker stars as Nate Turner in The Birth Of A Nation

"I pray you sing a new song. Sing praise in the assembly of the righteous. Let the saints be joyful in glory." 

"Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Sing to him a new song!" 


The Birth Of A Nation premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2016 on January 25, 2016. 

It won both Audience Award and Grand Jury Prize in the U.S. Dramatic Competition. 


The film is about a slave boy who was taught to read in order for him to study the Bible and for him to be a preacher to his fellow slaves and to go for a preaching tour to profit for his masters. Later he begins to realize the effects of slavery and starts to preach a new song for his black brothers and sisters. 


The film is also directed, produced, and written by Nate Parker. 


The film is set to release on October 7, 2016.
